Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Dr. Henry Kwabena Kokofu has appealed to the government to expedite the implementation of the Representation of the People's Amendment Act (ROPAL).
The Act seeks to provide an opportunity for Ghanaians living abroad to vote in Ghana's general elections.
The Act was passed by Parliament twelve years ago and a High Court in Accra in 2017 ordered the Electoral Commission to begin the process of implementing the ROPAL.
However, the Electoral Management Body hasn't implemented the Act yet.
Speaking on Peace FM's ''Kokrokoo'', Dr. Kokofu brought back to memory the significance of ROPAL.
He emphasized it's about time Ghanaians in the diaspora were allowed to participate in the country's elections stressing they equally have a stake in the affairs of the nation.
"They should be able to vote and have a say in the election of leaders for the nation," he told host Kwami Sefa Kayi.
