Managing Editor of The National Forum newspaper, James Kwabena Bomfeh, has asked the Rt. Hon. Alban Bagbin to resign as Speaker of Parliament.
Rt. Hon. Alban Bagbin is currently in Dubai on sick leave.
In a letter dated 6th January 2022 and directed to the Presidency, the Speaker noted his travel to the United Arab Emirates on 7th January 2022 is for a medical review.
A letter issued and signed on behalf of the Clerk of Parliament to the Head of Mission of Ghana Embassy in UAE stated; “I have been directed by the Clerk to Parliament to inform you about the arrival of the Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, in Dubai to undergo a medical review.”
Reacting to the Speaker's travels abroad, Mr Bomfeh, a former acting CPP General Secretary, opined that the Speaker is delaying Parliamentary proceedings particularly regarding the E-levy Bill which is pending approval with his medical condition that demands that he travels for treatment.
"How can we be so helpless as a country just because of one man?'', he fumed.
Kabila, as he is affectionately called, stressed the Speaker's travels are becoming an impediment to the operations of the Legislative House and so implored Mr. Bagbin to step down.
"If we need to save the Speaker, let save the Speaker by asking him to resign quietly so that somebody who is healthy and stronger can occupy the space. After all, when he resigns today, he's entitled to all the things that he is entitled to till he dies.
''He swore that he won't allow anything to become an impediment in the function and functioning of Parliament. Mr. Speaker, by your own word [on your honour] these your travels on health grounds are becoming an impediment to functioning of that second arm of government, the Legislature. With the greatest respect, in the name of your own words and on your honour, I'm pleading with you 'save Speaker Bagbin' by resigning and let's get a new Speaker," he said on Peace FM's ''Kokrokoo'' Wednesday morning.

There’s no election that elected this power drunk speaker and in the constitution there should be a vote to elect the Speaker of Parliament so #bagbinmustgo#
BAGBIN DIDN'T DESERVE TO HAVE BEEN APPOINTED A SPEAKER. FORGET ABOUT HIS LONG STAY IN PARLIAMENT AND LOOK AT HIS CONDUCT. BAGBIN ACCUSED KUFFOUR OF STOLEN MONEY TO PROVIDE ENHANCED SECURITY AT HIS HOME WHILE IT WAS MADE CLEAR THAT A FARMER PROVIDED THE MONEY. BAGBIN TOOK THIS ISSUE AS FAR AS HUAMAN RIGHTS AND ADMINISTRATIVE JUSTICE BUT COULD NOT PROVE IT. NOW BAGBIN IS WASTING STATE RESOURCES ON TRAVELS AND MEDICAL ATTENTION. SO IF HIS LONG CHERISH WISH TO BECOME A PRESIDENT MATERIALIZES, HMM, HALF OF THE COUNTRY'S RESOURCES WILL BE FOR HIS SECURITY AND COMFORT.
I think this guy do more than only weed.
This selfish and greedy speaker will never resign. Asiedu Nketiah was mocking Prof Mike Ocquaye that he is too old to be speaker because he can't walk and is being carried into his car.... Now we can all see who is fit. These c0rrupt and ev!l (P)NDC people are the cause of our under development. They have destroyed our institutions.
Kabila paaaa, he should resign and survive on what? The man has spent half of his life so far in parliament, i.e. from 1992 to date. The African politician will prefer to hold on to the position at the expense of his health, Bagbin will never resign on health grounds, no, it won't happen. Who will have free V8, free security, free accommodation, free lights, free water, free tea, coffee, milo, bread, eggs and margarine, free exgratia, free fuel, free car maintenance, free residential maintenance, free air tickets, free Dubai for health checks any number of times. No, he won't resign. Send a bulldozer to pull him from the speakers chair, he will hold on to it like a hawk and it's prey, Hahahaaaa. Kabila paaaa. Ask yourself how come MP's tell us their job is difficult because of the many demands on them, from funding weddings, funerals, out doorings, paying for caskets, ambulances to send constituents on referrals to major hospitals, etc and yet you see them moving 24/7 to seek re election, it tells you something dey there.
He's not actually sick, it's only a delaying game orchestrated by the minority that he'll never sit and preside over the e-levy. Let this e-levy thing passed and you'll see if he'll call for sick leave again. As a country we need to demand his medical records of his so- called medical leave when he returns. You can't play in the integrity of this whole nation.
Where is Asiedu Nketsiah? He said former speaker Mike Oquaye is not fit and will use Ghanaians money for medical bills so the MPs must choose Alban Bagbin. Who is using Ghanaians money now?
LOOK AT GUY GOING AWAY FOR HIS MEDICAL OUTSIDE GHANA WHILES THE POOR STAYS IN GHANA TO FACE HIS OR HER MIDICALS IN GHANA THAT IS WHY PRESIDENT NANA ADDO IS SERIOUS WITH AGENDA 111 BECAUSE THE POOR WON'T HAVE MONEY TO GO TO DUBAI FOR SUCH MEFICAL TREATMENT. In Ontario, Canada. There's a provincial tax called (Hamonous) and it's 13% that is added to everything you buy from the shop. Suppose you see a pair of shoes that is priced at $100, you'd pay additional 13% on it so you'd end up paying for $113 at the cashier. Ghanaians complain too much but expect so much... Even if you go to the bank and exchange money from Canadian dollars to the US dollars, you'd be taxed 7%
