The Chief Executive Officer of State Transport Corporation (STC), Nana Akomea, has described as a "misplaced priority" the construction of the E-block schools.
The E-block infrastructure project which was started under the erstwhile Mahama administration was aimed at increasing access to secondary school education.
Nana Akomea speaking to controversies surrounding the Computerised School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS) said since most parents are determined to take their wards to a grade 'A' or 'B' school, the money invested in the E-block project could have been used to expand schools with "the highest demand".
The STC boss who was speaking during a panel discussion on Peace FM's morning show 'Kokrokoo' added: "So far as there are differences between the school and nothing has been made to get rid of the differences, that pressure will always be there. That is why I disagree with NDC's E-block project; I think it is a misplaced priority. How many of these parents say they want their wards to go to E-Block schools? They want to go to Presec, Achimota, Accra Academy . . . so if we have the resources, why are we not expanding the infrastructure of the schools having the high demands?"

Why couldn't these E-blocks have been constructed at the so-called A & B schools. The country would have saved monies used to extend infrastructural services to these out of the way E-blocks, other new overheads, when perhaps marginal overheads will be required at existing sites. Yon can still beat your puny chests on these "i built this i built that" ***barred word***.
@Justice. Your point is spot on and I agree with you as that is sustainable in the long run. We need to make these new schools great by improving the facilities. Although, Nana Addo has done well, the E Blocks built by Mahama are also good for advancing education in Ghana.
Thank God you are speaking as an individual. What make those schools grade A and B school? One would have thought that you will be saying something on what should be done to make those schools also attractive to parents you are referring to. I didn't see vision in your statement. Go and come again
