The outgoing Deputy General Secretary of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Obiri Boahen says he disagrees with President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s stance not to reshuffle his Ministers after a call from the Alliance For Footsoldiers Advocacy (AFFA).
According to him, the President’s posture will make things difficult for the NPP to ‘Break the 8’.
Alliance For Footsoldiers Advocacy (AFFA), a grass root wing of the ruling NPP, called on President Akufo-Addo to urgently reshuffle his appointees to energize the economy.
According to the group, some notable appointees of the government are dormant in their discharge of the duty which is slowing the economic growth.
But President Nana Akufo-Addo during a radio interview on North Star radio in Tamale as part of his tour of the Northern Region said those calling for the reshuffle of his Ministers may be persons looking for job opportunities.
“The calls come for all kinds of reasons; NDC wanting to destabilize the government is one. There are people who are also looking for jobs,” the President said.
But Nana Obiri Boahene in an interview with NEAT FM’s morning show, 'Ghana Montie' said the President’s response was “unfortunate”.
“Not responding to them would have been right. Politically, we cannot brush aside the role of the foot soldiers. They are very instrumental in the party’s victory. Let’s listen to them. We want power,” he added.

Nana Obiri Boahen paaaa, you are talking about 'breaking the 8'? If you care to know ordinary npp supporters are praying hard for the man's tenure to quickly come to an end. The level of disappointment is too much. Remember that the NPP never bought campaign vehicles in 2016 and 2020. It was the ordinary NPP supporters who volunteered their vehicles i.e. Cars and pickups, fueled them to assist in the campaign. Today some have parked their cars and are now using motorbikes/ trotro because their businesses have collapsed. Others who used their meagre resources to work on contracts have not been paid for almost 3 years now after completing those contracts, it's regret and regret everywhere. A lot of people thought the current NPP will be like the kufour one thus the overwhelming hope and trust they had in Akuffo Addo, unfortunately their hopes have been dashed. I pity the NPP stalwarts in my region, they look worse off than people. In opposition the tumultuous welcome Akuffo Addo gets anytime he visited has suddenly vanished after becoming president. It's amazing that someone still aspiring to be somebody has a lot of people running after him, now having got what he wanted same people who used to run after him have all vanished because they have been let down. Currently the appointees don't even have the courage to call NPP supporters to come out in their numbers to welcome the president when he's visiting, why because they know what they have done to the ordinary NPP supporter, how then can you 'break the 8'? How do you go to war with a demotivated 'army' and expect to conquer. The president should observe his visits to the regions when he was in opposition and now that he's president, he doesn't need anybody to tell him that his popularity has nosedived. He should ask the regional ministers and MMDCEs where the party youth are, if they tell him because of the farming season majority are on their farms it's not true, the rains and farms were there and they still came out in their numbers to welcome him several kilometers away from the regional and districts capital when he was in opposition, today some are struggling to feed themselves much more going to buy fuel on their own to go and welcome the president into town. So did the ordinary NPP supporter go or did they come. John Mahama and the NDC are laughing big, they keep saying ' we told you so but you failed to listen, today see the mess you brought for yourself '. Every NPP communicator has become a stammerer, the fluency has vanished. Rather unfortunate.
