Former President John Mahama has waded into discussions surrounding the resignation of Alan Kyerematen, Trade and Industry Minister and Dr Owusu Afriyie Akoto, Agric Minister.
In a tweet, he opined the resignation of the two was "pointless and late".
“Some members of the Akufo-Addo government have realized their boat is heading for disaster. It must be a relief for those deserting the ship, but it’s so late. It’s almost pointless. They’ll try hard not to be part of the mess we are in, but let’s not forget the parts they all played,” he posted.

Two Resign
On Friday, January 6, 2023, former Trade and Industry Minister, Alan Kyerematen tendered in his resignation to President Akufo-Addo, which was accepted.
Addressing Ghanaians at a press conference, he said, “I wish to use this platform to formally announce my decision to contest the flagbearership of the New Patriotic Party when the Party officially opens nominations for that purpose”.
Subsequently former Agric Minister, Dr Owusu Afriyie Akoto followed suit.
He has also declared his intention to contest for the NPP’s flagbearership position.

All of you guys are NPP guys not thinking well. You see the way the country is now going? You guys are living in another world. Now your own NPP Mps want the Individual bond holders inclusion to be reviewed. Now they see that they are also going to be affected because they have also bought some of these bonds. We are all sinking together. when the nation burns we all will burn. Now Gabby is saying Ghana is in a very difficult situation. Please who brought us here. You criticize borrowing but when you came to power you have borrowed more than ever. You have wasted money on ***barred word*** 132 ministers, personal assistants of ministers and ***barred word*** govt programmes which have no yielded any results. where are the dams, factories. unemployment is on the rise. You accused NDC of incompetence bcuz they went to IMF. please where are you now? You are begging for loan. ***barred word*** dwarf as President Aboaa like you Akuffo Addo
This Kanazoe ford bribeman even without Covid cancelled trainee teachers and nurses allowances. John Mahama is corrupt, incompetent and very greedy... period!!!
@Ohemaa Ba, I think the NDC is at the end of its capability to campaign on constructive policies, because it is not used to that principle of competing on the best policies in the democratic space. It simply lacks that kind of competence.
I do not believe Ghanaians buy into believing that Akufo-Addo's administration, notwithstanding the challenges, has been worse than the NDC-Mahama administration. I strongly beg to differ on that. Then, given the challenges posed by COVID and the Ukraine war, the NDC-Mahama administration would have been worse off or abysmally poor. This is the situation the average Ghanaian can envisage if the NDC administration had been in power then. Though NDC supporters and propagandists work hard to convince Ghanaians to believe otherwise, this position does not sink. And the NDC seems not to grasp that because it underrates the intelligence of Ghanaian voters.
Has there no been a mess. When they went borrowing money anyhow and we told them the rate at which they were borrowing was too much did they listen? Adongo warned that we will go to the IMF and that Ken Ofori Atta is very dangerous to our economy. Now here we are in a big mess. Out debts are unsustainable and that is the reason why we are at IMF. The boasted of a resilient economy. where is the resilience? Criminals in power who have no good intention for this small country. They told us we won’t go to IMF. we are at IMF now. They told us individual bond holders are exempt from Debt restructuring. But here we are they have been roped in. The biggest shame has fall on their faces and you ***barred word*** guys here are defending them. we all are going to suffer. kwasiafuo
Always abusive and corrosive speech: when will you learn to be respectful. The so-called mess does not come any close to yours. Please stop dreaming for you are never coming back!
