Former Member of Parliament for Suhum, Fred Opare Ansah has admonished the camps of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen not to take advantage of an incident that happened in Assin North prior to the constituency's by-election and pitch their candidates against each other.
The incident which was captured in a viral video showed the Vice President Dr. Bawumia joining the former Minister of Trade, Hon. Alan Kyerematen on stage while the latter was addressing constituents at Assin North.
In the video, Bawumia was ushered in and introduced while Alan was still speaking; a situation which has aggrieved most of Alan's fans.
Alan's camp sees the action as an intentional act to sabotage their candidate.
But the New Patriotic Party's national executives have rendered an apology to both candidates and blamed themselves for the mishap.
According to the National Youth Organizer of the NPP, Salam Mustapha who spoke to Kwami Sefa Kayi on Peace FM's morning show "Kokrokoo" weeks ago, it was not deliberate.
"There was no single attempt to embarrass Alan Kyerematen...There was a break in protocol", he explained, adding both Alan and Bawumia "deserve an apology".
Hon. Fred Opare Ansah, contributing to "Kokrokoo" show today, advised those trying to make capital gains out of the incident against Dr. Bawumia or Alan Kyerematen to desist from it.
"Those who are trying to take political advantage of this in their campaign should realize that if you cause disaffection or public ridicule for someone, it doesn't impact on just one person. It is a ridicule on the entire party", he cautioned.

Rumor has it that there is no one who understands how Ghana trains scientists and what science means to Ghana in cabinet. The general public must ensure that at all times there is a powerful man who understands this in cabinet. While it is true that Ghana needs exceptional macro-economists and a good lawyer in cabinet, the need for a good scientist who can solve this problem cannot be overemphasised. Perhaps the next president or Vice President must be a relevant scientist. Indeed Ghana has never had a scientist as head of state. A nuclear physicist from the Ghana Atomic Energy Commission in cabinet would help a lot.
Well said , what the camps if should and must know is that, who ever wins will need the support of the the other camp to execute a successful campaign in 2024. Even with a United front the NPP faces a huge task in 2024 much more a divided front. I keep saying who ever wins the NPP presidential primaries will have to work from 2 fronts. First is how to convince the party's youth who made a lot of sacrifices in 2016 when the party was in opposition and virtually struggling but now feel disappointed to make sacrifices again. Secondly is the main opponent, the NDC. Remember the tables have turned. This time round the NDC will be attacking and the NPP will be defending. In football , the team defending is always under pressure. As if this is not enough some regional ministers and MMDCEs have incurred the wrath of the party's supporters such that they can't get close to party supporters when the campaign kicks off. A good example is Simon Osei Mensah the Ashanti regional minister who showed disrespect to school feeding caterers most if not all of whom are NPP women supporters when the went to his office to complain about the 97 pesewa feeding per day per pupil on the school feeding program. Can such a minister face these women in 2024 to urge them to actively join the campaign? If the women were to treat him the way he treated them, can he even get close to them much more addressing them? A school mate of mine told me there is one other regional minister who doesn't tolerate ordinary party supporters in his home or office, he says nobody should come to him, he says he will call them when he needs them. I don't know how he came by the contact numbers of every single NPP member in his region and whether all NPP members in that region have mobile phones. With all these arrogance and display of empty pride someone says he's happy with their performance. Who ever wins the NPP presidential primaries have work paaaaaa to do oooooo.
