The Attorney-General Godfred Yeboah Dame has asserted that every step towards passage of the Human Sexual and Ghanaian Family Values bill is "politically motivated".
He, however, prescribes a holistic legal approach to issues by all, and a halt in the "unnecessary tit-for-tat" actions by certain individuals with vested interest in bill.
The Attorney-General, also held that the Speaker of Parliament, Hon Sumana Kinsford Alban Bagbin was either misled or misinformed when he decided to suspend the approval of ministerial nominees until the Supreme Court completely dealt with the anti-gay bill cases before them.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with TV3 monitored by Peacefmonline.com, Mr. Dame said, "Every aspect of this bill is politically motivated. Otherwise, there is really no urgency. I remember mooting the contract management bill, a bill that had the potential to save the state millions of Cedis in judgment debt, passed by parliament in July 2023, it was only presented to the president for his assent about three weeks ago. Every step in this matter is politically motivated”.
''This is a time we have to look at things legally, through the appropriate lenses and with all respect stop the unnecessary tit for tat being done by some people," he added.
The Speaker on Wednesday, announced the suspension of the nominee ministers presented to the Parliament by President Akufo Addo.
The Speaker’s decision to suspend the vetting of the appointed ministers comes in the wake of the President’s letter to the Speaker instructing the house to cease and desist from transmitting the Human Sexual and Ghanaian Family Values bill for his assent. The Presidency, in his view, awaits the supreme verdicts on the suit presented by some two persons who seek to challenge the passage of the Anti-gay bill.
Reacting to this, Mr. Dame was of the opinion that the Speaker's action was possibly based on a representation of facts or deliberate act of deception and the bill was hastily handled.
“I think that it is either the speaker was misinformed or misled by those who were mooting the action,” he said.

@truth will prevail, some of you simpletons just ask questions as if you didn't think about a second time. Will the non passage of the bill mean all of Ghana's problems are solved?
Is the passage of the bill an antidote for Ghana's problems. When the country needed money from tax raised from e levey look the way Gbagbin misbehaved. There are more anti Christ, more robbery, more killings for money and political control which are worse than this ***barred word*** bill for presidential accent. Hippocrates!!!
The most usel33sss AG ghana has ever had. Highly incompetent !!!
Why can't Ghana hold a referendum and let the citizens decide?
Are our values and culture as a country political,Mr Attorney General? How koraa did some of you qualify as lawyers? If someone says a man should not stick his penis into his fellow man’s ***barred word***,is that politics? Even a dog,a cow or a goat knows exactly which hole to mate! What a country!
The media should stop saying anti Gay bill. In the western world when man marry two ladies' he be jailed because it is against human right .But when a man marries dog it is good and not against human right.
Listen to the key proponent of the Bill (Sam George) in 2014 video on this same matter and now. Politics without principles! They think that theybare doing NPP, but........in the UNLIKELY situation, yoooooo
And every responsive action of Akufo Addo and his government is stomach and selfish motivated. Ghana has never been part of your considerations in all of your actions in this matter.
