Controversial Ghanaian Hiplife personality A Plus has said the four year ex-gratia retirement package for politicians must be thrown out.
The music star argued that politicians are just like any other Ghanaian so why must they, after every four years take retirement package whilst the doctor, lawyer, or teacher takes just one time retirement package.
“The laws must be made such that every working Ghanaian must take just one time retirement package and that should be it”
“It defies logic when some section of Ghanaians retires every four years and after retiring comes back again to contest for a seat, I think the constitution must be amended that once you have retired there’s no coming back” he said.

U r spot on. It shd STOP IMMEDIATELY!!
I 100% agree with A-Plus. pension is paid once in a lifetime. So if you appear in Parliament for 3/4 etc terms, your emoluments would only be paid once. In some foreign organisations, if you are laid off and you wish to return to the organisation at the next opportunity, you have the option to defer your pension and the money will accrue interest so at the next opportunity you continue with the same pension plan. We need to replicate this in Ghana. A young MP can defer his/her pension but what happens currently is a ripoff.
that's it, I think the package is meant for lazy politicians
THE PERSON LOOSES AT THE END OF THE 4 YEARS TERM.
They take everything & forget about teachers, lawyers, doctors, nurses etc. Robbing poor tax payers. Don't elect those that need the MONEY every 4 years.
I share the same sentiments with Kwame A-Plus. I mean how is that logical? we vote for you to go formulate and pass laws and you keep mute for the whole 4 years and you receive such gargantuan package of an ex-gratia for apparently no work done. I mean how can you fleece us of our taxes when you know you do not even deserve to sit in the august house of parliament? I think if even you are supposed to be given ex-gratia, their performances should be a deciding factor and once you decide to contest for the next 4 years, you should be given half of what you qualified for in the last term. After all, you receive sitting allowances and per diems and other freebies. This would make them sit up. The bills that would benefit the masses are always shelved and that which they will benefit from, they do not hesitate to pass them. how do we even get them to do the right things for us without necessarily changing them after every 4 years? The voice of the people should be louder ...
