The Social Workers Association of Ghana (SWAG) has called for the immediate removal of the son of actress Miss Rosemond Brown popularly known as Akwapim Poloo from her for abusing his rights.
The actress, this week, released a picture on social media showing her squatting nakedly and holding the hand of his seven year old son who was only wearing a brief and standing infront of her as he celebrated his birthday.
SWAG, condemning the act, said “we recommend for immediate removal of the child from Akuapim Poloo to safe guard the child from further danger. We plead with the Department of Social Welfare, as a matter of urgency to find Alternative Care and Protection for the child in-question”.
They explained that the Children’s Act 560 of 1998 provided for maximum protection of children in need of care and protection adding that Akuapim Poloo’s behaviour was unwarranted and infringed on the rights of all children.
“Her illicit and indecent exposure in front of her own son is a clear sexual, moral and emotional abuse of the child’s right which may remain in the mind of the child for a long time if not treated can haunt the child for the rest of his life, ”they stated.
Such irresponsible behavior, SWAG noted, contravened the rights of the child and put not only her child but other children into psychological and sexual abuse.
Mr Divine A.K Exorgbe, National President of SWAG, said her behavior was sad and disheartening as one could not tell for how long such ‘irresponsible behaviour is being meted out to her child”.
Mr Exorgbe stressed that Akuapim Poloo should be compelled by law to undergo psychological diagnoses and treatment as well as training in parenting to shape her and protect the interest of her son and society as a whole.
They called for the involvement of all stakeholders in such issues to ensure the protection and promotion of the vulnerable in society especially children who needed care and protection.

Likewise, I have also never heard of such SWAG and whatever the meaning the name before in Ghana or elsewhere. Where did they suddenly resurrect from? Yes, ask again. You see the diabolic in these so-called CSOs. Some wish to ride on the fame of this innocent girl. Rosemond Brown's behavior is unacceptable of course, and I doubt she's even aware of any such child protection Acts as been quoted since she herself has suffered in her whole lifetime to crave such a niche of fame and still can see a lot of abandoned helpless kids suffering for no cause of theirs on our streets whiles this SWAG thing and Acts look unconcern and exist. Say it again la @Agbeli, we do not have any better system where a child can safely be put and for that matter, they just want to use this as an opportunity to solicit money from the international organizations for their own selfish intent. I bet you they will definitely jeopardize the poor boy's future and in the end, render the mum emotionally stressed up. Counseling her is another option and further cautioning her to know the seriousness of action will also serve as a deterrent to others, @ Agbeli sure you have said it all. SWAG should channel their resources hahaha, Pls Agbeli save your breath do they even have any? They are all rhetorics, not just that, but hypocrites and mischievously trying to reap what they have never sowed.
Have not heard of SWAG before. Where did they suddenly resurrect from. In as much as Rosemond Brown's behaviour is unacceptable, we do not have any better system where a child can safely be put. Go to our orphanages and see what is happening. Don't jeopardize the boy's future out of emotions. Counseling her is another option and further cautioning her to know the seriousness of action will also serve as a deterrent to others. I think we are all in a rush to condemn her. She may be going through some emotional stress which we may not know. SWAG should channel their resources if, to visit the orphanages and do the needful. If that boy is given to one of them for even 3 months they may not be able to take care of him. They are all rhetorics.
In as much as i don't agree with the nudity of the actress before her 7yr old son, Where in this country can they keep the boy n take good care of him ad his mother does. They'll just put him in some God forsaken deplorable shelter in the name of protecting him from his mother. Can the state provide all that the mother used to provide for him? His type of school, feeding, clothing, environment etc They should just warn her n let the child be.
