Black Stars coach Kwesi Appiah has denied reports circulating in the local media that Real Madrid midfielder Michael Essien had snubbed the national team as it prepares for the Nations cup in South Africa next year.
Speaking to an Accra based Happy FM, Kwesi Appiah said he had been speaking to the player for the past six months and the indications he had received were that the player was still trying to settle into his new club at Real Madrid .
It is not true that the player has snubbed the national team. I have been speaking with him like other players and he is trying to settle into his new environment in Spain.
Micheal Essien has been away from the Black Stars for almost two years after a series of recurring knee injuries almost ended his professional career with English club Chelsea
