The International Football body FIFA HAS said it is closely monitoring what is happening in Ghana regarding its Executive Committee Member Kwesi Nyantakyi’s arrest, MyNewsGh.com can confirm.
In response to an enquiry written to the football body by Sports journalist Gary AlSmith, FIFA’s shot response was that they are aware and are currently seeking for more information in the issue.
Beyond that, they said they cannot comment further, MyNewsGh.com learnt.
Akufo-Addo ‘orders’ arrest
His Excellency President of the Republic of Ghana Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo yesterday reported the President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) Kwasi Nyantakyi to the Police for defrauding by false pretense.
While many news reports said the President ‘ordered’, MyNewsGh.com confirmed that the President only reported the matter to the Police.
The FA President arrived in the country from Morocco where he was on official duties on Wednesday, May 23, 2018.
He was escorted straight to the CID Headquarters by personnel who had been stationed at the Kotoka International Airport awaiting his arrival after President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo lodged an official complaint with them
The Police subsequently picked him from the airport from where he was taken to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) Headquarters in Accra.
MyNewsGh.com’s sources say the Presidency had the Anas exposé screened privately for the President, Vice President and some top government officials and our source say, Kwesi Nyantakyi has some serious questions to answer regarding a false presentation in the name of the President.
“Ghana is the easiest place to do business. All you have to do is to give the President of Ghana $5m and the Vice President $3m. I have the President in my pocket. I see him every day. As for the refs, all you need is to give them GH¢20 and girls and they are sorted” Nyantakyi had said in the video.
MyNewsGhlast reported that 60 names in all were captured in the Anas investigative exposé and Mr Nyantakyi is but one of many names to go down.
Bail and more police details
A source had earlier disclosed to MyNewsGh.com that there was the likelihood of Mr Nyantakyi spending the night in police detention. This however was not to be, as after 5 hours of interrogation by the police, Mr Nyantakyi was taken to his house by police investigators who searched his home in scouting for more evidence in relation to the allegations of defrauding by false pretenses leveled against him.
According to the police, he is being investigated for alleged offenses including corruption.
“This follows a complaint received from His Excellency the President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Adda Dankwa Akufo-Addo that Mr. Nyantakyi has used the President’s name and office fraudulently. Police assures the public that due processes would be followed in the investigation. Any person with relevant information may submit it to the Police”, an earlier statement from the police revealed.

Kwasi Nyantakyi MUST RESIGN or be sacked even before the exposè
Gary are you disappointed of FIFA's response? A new wind is blowing and the likes of cannot stop it! Your master has been badly exposed!!! Cheer up.
In fact something has to be done to all those corrupted leaders in our country Ghana for the upcoming leader to know that when they also practice such immoral attitude, they won't be spared.
.....as for the refs, all you need is to give them GH¢20 and girls and they are sorted” Nyantakyi had said in the video. What a jok.e, and people are always on the Ghana Kohti for collecting cab change for bribe. Just see the difference $5M, $3M and Ghc20, ah. God punish anybody who has given refs ghc20 as bribe. Also, I honestly very much admire KN for his achievements in life, breaking into WAFU, CAF, and FIFA, but this loose talk no matters what happens, even if its made a ***barred word*** case in Ghana, CAF and FIFA must drop you if the two bodies really have a zero tolerance for corruption. I'm sorry Senior, you have tarnished your image forever, and personally, I sincerely believe the Prez and Vice have collected kickbacks from you before. There is a proverb which says, whatever a drunk man says in secret, is the honest #truth hidden in his heart. I wish you Godspeed with this.
