Mr. Herbert Mensah, President of the Ghana Rugby Football Union (GRFU), officially announced the preliminary fixture list for the 2015/16 Ghana Rugby Club Championship (GRCC).

According to Mr. Mensah, “The 2014/15 Rugby Club Championship in Ghana was a major step towards building the capacities and awareness of Rugby in Ghana and we believe that the 2015/16 tournament will take the previous successes to new heights.”

The 2015/16 GRCC will again be battled for top top honours on a pool basis with six teams from the Greater Accra Region (Pool A) who will compete for semi final spots while four teams from CentWest (Pool B) will do the same.

The tournament will kick off for Round 1 on 07 November 2015 ending on 05 December 2015 with Round 2 matches to be played between 9 January 2016
ending on 6 February 2016.

The semi finals will be played on 20 February 2016 followed by the
finals and 3d Place Playoff on 27 February 2016.

“The 2015 Rugby World Cup is about to start in the United Kingdom and we believe that it will inspire the Ghana Rugby Family to greater heights,” Mr. Mensah said.

Mr. Mensah also said that he once again extends his appreciation to the companies that supported Ghana Rugby in the 2014/15 GRCC including Accra Breweries, Voltic, Vodafone and Zen Petroleum and said he hopes that they and other corporates will again come forward to support Ghana Rugby with the 2015/16 GRCC and indeed with the development of Rugby in Ghana.

“The development of sport and indeed our youth is strangled due to lack of support from Government and we indeed need the support of our corporate bodies. Rugby is about instilling the values of integrity, passion, teamwork, discipline and respect in our youth,” Mr. Mensah said.
