Asante Kotoko failed to score for the first time in the 2013 Caf Champions League after drawing 0-0 on Friday night with J.S.M Bejaia in Algeria.
The Ghanaian side, who advanced to the 1/16th stage of the continents flagship club-competition courtesy an 8-0 aggregate thrashing of Sony Ela Nguema in the preliminary round must now win the return leg in Kumasi in a fortnight to progress in the competition.
However, Kotoko will have other worries apart from winning convincingly in the second leg at home in their quest to qualify to the next stage.
The Porcupine Warriors picked up four bookings as goalkeeper Abdoulaye Soulama, Ben Adama, Issa Yakubu and Bobie Ansah were all cautioned ahead of the return leg.
Kotoko, two-time African champions, are returning to the Champions League after four seasons.
