New Ghana Coach Kwesi Appiah says he will not adhere to public pressure to invite local players into the Black Stars team.
The 56-year-old was unveiled at the Ghana Football Association secretariat on Tuesday afternoon.
Appiah who has been monitoring the Ghana Premier League is expected to give good opportunities to home-based players who have been overlooked in recent times.
According to the former Al Khartoum manager he will only invited local-based players on merit.
“I want to bring a local player who I will be sure that he can bring success to the team. I won't call for the sake of it,” he told the media.
“I believe every player in Ghana has got a chance in the Black Stars team, players both home and abroad will be invited based on merit.
“If you are a local player and you merit a call-up, why not, you will be invited.”
The Coach is expected to name his squad for Ghana’s upcoming international friendly against Mexico next month.

Don't follow pressure abi. As for you, you got your position totally on your credence, ayekooo. You do not bite the hands that feed you. Do you remember the FA guy (George Afriyie or something) who said no Ghanaian coach is capable of leading the Black Stars, did you see his end? Abi we thought you were a local guy, so you will give hope to the local stars by building their capacity to give them hope. Oga! careful! You are starting on a wrong note
