The Ghana Football Association could be sanctioned by the Federation of International Football (FIFA) after “breaching” its laws of the game.
Ghana’s sweet victory over Ethiopia has been marred by a controversy about the armband of skipper Asamoah Gyan who was spotted in customized band during the game.
Gyan’s customized band which had his name and picture could not be used by his deputy Andre Ayew upon his substitution in the game.
Per the rules governing the game, Gyan and the Ghana Football Association could face sanctioning by the World Football governing body.
FIFA's Equipment Regulations on armband, states:
"20.1 A captains armband exclusively provided by FIFA must be used for all Matches of Final Competitions. FIFA may provide two captain's armbands in contrasting Colours."
"20.2 For any Matches of Preliminary Competition and any Preliminary Olympic Matches the captain's armband shall be of one dominant Colour, or exceptionally composed of the Colours of the National Flag clearly distinguishable from the Colour used on the sleeves of the shirt of the Player."
"Captain's armbands shall remain free of, and shall not produce, in FIFA's discretion, the visual effect of a Manufacturer's identification, a sponsor, any Decorative Element or further elements, except for the word "captain" or an abbreviation or translation thereof."
Officials of the Ghana Football Association had hinted they presented two armbands for the pre-match conference.

I dont know what he was thinking. It is an honour to represent your country and you do so with humility and pride and not arrogance! He made it look like Ghana was honored to have him play for her! Ghana is bigger than any single player and indeed the whole team! It was totally unprofessional and unnecessary. What has he achieved for Ghana? He is not even the best player Ghana has ever produced so what is the fuss about people defending what he did? What he did was indefensible and that must be drummed into the heads of every player: team first before personal glory. I don't give a damn if he scored 1000 goals and the team does not win silverware..it means nothing for Ghana. He should have learned from that disastrous penalty he took that cost us a place in the world cup semi-final in 2010. In that instance it was clear he was seeking personal glory even when the substantive captain Steven Appiah was having a word with him and he ignored him. We all know of the outcome of his selfishness and "Too Known"
Why would you even think of this,Please be discipline and let what you know best do the talking for you..Your first step is to define why you are a captain of the team and bring honor to your name, be serious.Honestly if it were to be dancing we would go somewhere else but you are on a team to deliver.simple
Who keeps the armband? The Captain or the GFA?
Instead of leading the team on the field of play and start taking penalty kicks again, he his rather interested in foolishness. Which captain of a national team anywhere in the world will stop taking penalty for his national team because he missed one. Ghana could have won the 2015 CAN if Asamoah had taken part in the shootout. A captain only interested in dancing and doing ***barred word*** stuff. Shame on you.
Agooooooo Ghanaian please tell our coach Kwasi Appiah to stop these indiscipline in the team before things get out of hand because if Gyan think that he has done something better for Ghana then what would UN secretary General and Stephen Appiah also say.
Asamoah Gyan should not be allowed to treat the National team as part of his business outlets. He is not a Captain of any team anywhere except the Black Stars so the idea of branding the Captains Band is completely out of place. He should be made aware of the limits he has as a player and as a captain. He never did it under Avarm Grant so why now? WE ARE OUR OWN ENEMIES.
Outright and total BS. This is how lawlessness and indiscipline starts in our society and when it becomes chronic we begin to run around like headless chicken. This was not a charity or testimonial game in his honour, this was a serious competition organised by FIFA. For him to even fathom the idea and be allowed as such beats my understanding. Let your talent and skills talk on the pitch not around ur arm. Crassss.
I heard Gyan dfending his wearing a picture on his arm band by claiming that Real Madrid, Inter and Roma captains also had their photos on ther bands. What he faile to acknowledge is that those are all club sides. He is a national captain, representing Ghana, not a club.
The indiscipline has started with Kwasi again. Why must we do that to our own, would he have even thought of that if the manager is a white? Fuulishness
nkruasesem wei eni hwe hene? sometimes you can have loads of money but if ur eye no open, ino open.
