Kwesi Appiah has revealed that his sacking in 2014 was politically motivated with former Ghana President, John Mahama, playing a huge role.
Appiah wrote in his book “Leaders Don’t Have To Yell” that John Mahama asked former Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kwesi Nyantakyi to sack him after they returned from the World Cup in Brazil.
Ghana endured a disgraceful appearance on and off the field. The team picked just a point from three games while the country was subjected to international ridicule after money was airlifted to pay the players.
“To anyone who was objectively looking at the facts of the circumstances surrounding Brazil 2014, it was obvious that my termination was an attempt by the powers-that-be to shift blame away from themselves,” Appiah wrote.
“Kwesi Nyantakyi called me to his office that day and informed me that he had been asked by the President of the nation to relieve me of my duties.”
The book, launched last Friday, has nuggets the coach considers key for leadership in general, not just for football specifically.
Kwesi Appiah was reappointed in 2017 and worked for two and a half years.

Why don't you say that Mahama is the reason why you are a very bad coach in the first place! Look at all these failures trying to blame Mahama for their incompetence! I guess it was Mahama who made you fail your interview for the Sudanese job! Sudan of all countries and you could not pass! That really explains why you are a very bad coach . You don't speak the truth and you cannot face your shortcomings. Those who confront their weaknesses stand a better chance of tackling them and hence improving upon themselves. As for this looser he wants to profit from his failure and is going about loose-talking as if Ghana owes him a coaching job! Face the fact that you are not a good coach; you had the best opportunity to prove doubters wrong about local coaches but you ended up confirming all the doubts!
MASTER DONT TELL LIES. IF YOU ARE NOT GOOD YOU ARE4 NOT GOOD .STOP THESE UNFOUNDED TAILS TO WIN FAVOR FROM PEOPLE , POSTERITY WILL JUDGE YOU MAN. DID MR NYATAKYI TELL YOU THAT ?
THANK GOD WE ARE NOT CHARGING YOU FOR FINANCIAL LOST TO STATES. ANYONE CAN BE COACH IF YOUR PERFORMANCE IS WHAT IS REQUIRE OF A COACH.
Kwesi appiah, let me ask you a simple question. I don't want you to tell me the answer but answer honestly to yourself: If Ghana Blackstars was a club you owned and invested money in and you hired a coach like yourself who produced the kind of performances and results you produced would you retain such a coach?
