The Chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC), Charlotte Osei and the other commissioners who appeared before parliament on Wednesday July 26 to render an account on expenditure for the 2016 elections were forced by Members of Parliament to sit together, Mathew Nyindam, Deputy Majority Chief Whip and MP for Kpandai, has revealed.
According to him, before the start of proceedings, the sitting arrangement of the commissioners did not portray them as united, a situation the MPs thought would not help the exercise, hence the decision to re-arrange their sitting style.
Mr Nyindam told Chief Jerry Forson, host of Ghana Yensom on Accra100.5FM on Thursday July 27 that: “We all know that you are not supposed to be friends before you can work together, you will always disagree on issues, but you disagree to agree, and, so, although Charlotte Osei and the other commissioners may be having problems, we expected them to show a united force in parliament.
“Yesterday, for instance, when they came to the house, we the MPs had to raise issues with their sitting arrangements. We forced them to come and sit close to each other.”
“By and large the encounter has given Ghanaians the opportunity to know what is happening at the commission.”

Parliament should have allow the EC commissioners to sit wherever. The essential thing was getting them to answer EC questions raised. You cannot force a bull to the river side if it is not thirsty. Let us be careful with our acts and allow for individual rights.
women are emotional and bad leaders in Ghana.
Papa, you are knowledgeable, brilliant;wisdom paaaaa neeee, you've said it all....no comment. A word to a wise is enough.
@Question and Esposure. This tells them that they have limits.Their post is equivalent to High court judge but look at their behaviours.Like the parliament Ghanaians have to discipline them. They could not misbehave in parliament so too they will not misbehave during the coming investigations.
In as much as I think the EC chair was not best choice Ghanaians had the decison of the president should be respected by all and sundry. The deputy commissioners I think were insolent and disruptive typical of civil servants who are full of mischief and diabolical plans. I think we should be careful as a nation what we are calling for. Why are we so disruptive as a people and we have people who are level headed condoning insurgency against their own boss. The chickens will come home to roost.
This is a silly arrangement! What if one of them has been aggressive and threw a blow? Can't you think far?
What did you achieve by forcing them to sit together?
