Three soldiers and a policeman are on admission at the Agogo Presbyterian Hospital in Ashanti with gunshot wounds after coming under attack by unknown assailants.
ASP Samuel Azugu, Asante Akyem North District Police Commander, said the victims, part of the "Operation Cow Leg" task force seeking to eject Fulani herdsmen and their cattle from the district, had gone into the bush on assignment when they were fired on.
He told Citi FM that the victims were in a stable condition.
Agogo has been the centre of bitter bickering over alleged atrocities committed by the herdsmen against local farmers and their families, leading to calls for their ejection.
Locals had threatened to take the law into their hands and forcefully eject the herdsmen and their animals if the government was not going to do anything about the situation.
Several lives have been lost on both sides while hundreds of cattle have either been maimed or killed in retaliatory attacks, often started by the destruction of farms by grazing cattle.

Sounds Ridiculous to my ears. I JUST CAN'T BELIEVE THIS IS HAPPENING TO THE GHANAIAN MORE TOUTED SECURITY OPERATIONS. WOW! I CAN'T THINK FAR. HAVING REALIZED THAT KEN DAPAAH'S OUT FIT IS A FAILURE SO FAR, Let me address these questions to the various Unit Commanders of our security services notably the Ghana Police Service and The Ghana Armed Forces. Fresh from the callous Murder of Major Mahama, has it not dawn on the various Units to approach security operations in the ***barred word*** and JUNGLES with specialised forces AND DESTABLELIZING Ammunitions. I remember during a parade at the INDEPENCE SQUARE a specialized Police Force with all their accoutrements were displayed that elicited a remark from General Mosquito ostensibly to cow the Opposition NPP. The Military was also equally out doored huhudeously with modern defence and security wares. So where are the CHOPPERS and Helicopter Paratrooper Smokers that could snipe and wipe out a whole town within minutes. I am particularly disappointed in the JUNGLE command Unit of the Ghana Armed Forces for allowing their own to mowed down by meer cattle headsmen wielding Uzi and AK 47 ASSAULT RIFFLES. I don't think GHANA Armed Forces need a commando Unit to take out a handful of HEADSMEN. For area like Agogo I don't think the military needed more than two snipers and a drone to eliminate or immobilize these nomadic HEADSMEN and signal for their eventual round up. I AM SCANDALIZED AS A GHANAIAN
