According to Mr Hamid, it was agreed that he resigns from the position to allow him concentrate on his work as spokesperson for the president-elect.
Speaking to Viasat 1 News, Mustapha Hamid, who is also a lecturer at the University of Cape Coast said he had initiated the process of taking leave from the school in order to serve in the incoming government.
He said his withdrawal from the transition team is not a demotion but an agreement reached to allow him concentrate on his duties as spokesperson for Nana Addo.
“I will ask a leave of absence from the university, the processes which i have started in order to disengage and serve full capacity in government. I’m the spokesperson of Nana Akufo-Addo and that in itself is huge responsibility, so on hindsight, i shouldn’t have accepted the added responsibility as the spokesperson for the transition team,” Mustapha Hamid explained.
“A transition team has a short lifespan, so that is no position at all, as far as i’m concerned,” he added.
Mustapha Hamid reiterated the NPP’s position on the last minute appointments and contracts awarded by the outgoing NDC government describing it as an “exercise in bad faith”.
He stated that the NPP will review such contracts and appointees within the confines of the law.
Kojo Oppong Nkrumah
The surprise appointment of Kojo Oppong Nkrumah as spokesperson for the New Patriotic Party (NPP’s) transition team was announced at a meeting of the two transition teams on Monday.
Kojo Oppong Nkrumah is also the Member of Parliament-elect for Ofoase-Ayirebi in the Eastern region.

Hamid, Me tu eeche ma wo. i like you.
Hamid will serve, NOT rule, that I am sure of. He will let NPP SHINE! CHANGE HAS COME!
Hamid lacks the maturity and emotional stability to be presidential spokesman. He makes crises out of every situation and creates unnecessary fear and panic. Nana Addo should pick someone more matured and diplomatic. Look at how Hamid commented on the transition process versus Oppong Nkrumah's comments? His conduct during Bugri Naabu's press conference(crying like a pregnant cow)? and his letter to Kufour when Nana Addo lost in 2008? The position of presidential spokesperson is key and should not be a reward for loyalty. Make Hamid a DCE/MCE and give the spokesperson position to a eloquent, matured and diplomatic person, preferably a lady.
IN LIFE THERE IS TIME FOR EVERYTHING.YOUR TIME HAS COME. A HARDWORKING GUY. SO COMMITTED AND LOYAL TO THE NPP AND NANA ADDO. YOUR HANDWORK AND COMMITTMENT IS GOING TO PAY OFF FOR YOU. WORK HARDER IN NANA ADDO-BAWUMIA ADMNISTRATION FOR THE GOOD AND PROGRESS OF GHANA'S AND GOD WILL BLESS YOU.
Yes, why waste time at the university when there is no money to steal? ALL CROOKS BE CROOKS!!
Good for you Hamid. More money into your purse. Free everything you need. However, becareful not to follow Nana to either Ugandan or Kenya. When you intend to embark on such a trip see Anas Arimiyaw for a visa.
In fact ndc are disgraceful and shameful and no wonder Ghanaians kept quiet for this day to come to boot them out. We'll done all patriotic sons and daughters who thought about their country and gave these idi*ts with no little sense whatsoever a hefty blow to knock them out. I'm surprised they are still thinking and talking of coming back in 2020 for what and on what message only God knows. Ghanaians will never accept thi*ves, arrogance, insults, vilification of others, lies, deceit and propagandists to rule this our beautiful nation. Ndc have a little shame to rebrand yourselves. I don't know who ndc think are st*pid to vote for them a tribalistic, ethnocentric, divisive and discrimination party like ndc,you think Akans will vote for you to put 2 or3 Akans in a position and the rest go to the minority?never again. We are not fo*ls to vote for arrogance, insults and impunity from you guys. Lick your wounds and sh*t up in opposition. NPP are going to work for all Ghanaians to get what they are expected to receive to have a good living. The only thing Ghanaians are crying for is a good living, they can eat good, good health care, education and good sanitation and jobs that's all. Ndc is satanic and will should never dream of coming back today or tomorrow. Everybody is happy we've seen the back of these vampires and we thank God. My prayer to God is never for these people to come back and may God destroy any juju or voodoo they consult to come back. IN GOD WE TRUST.
is this news??????????????
So that was the reason he went about lying through his big ***barred word*** mouth, so as to get a position to steal government money. Wait NDC will get you in court for all the lies you spewed against Mahama.
@Time and @Kenny,your submission shows you are minnows.Ask those who knows Mustapha very well as student leader in CapeVars. He is a strong character and stands for who he is.That can't be equated to arrogance. As an opposition spokesperson to a presidential candidate, you don't expect him to be mild as the government spokespersons were very vociferous and you need to counter with same proportion.Being educated as he is he knows how to play the game with a new position. Meanwhile @Time,I don't know whether you think its possible to combine his lectureship position to that of his work as a the spokesperson for the president elect. It's the right thing to do and can still go back to that position at anytime and its not an indication he is going to squander money.Be objective about what you want to say or don't comment.
