Former National Organizer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Yaw Boateng Gyan has disclosed that the setback which caused the defeat of his party in the 2016 elections has nothing to do with former President John Mahama.
According to him, the major cause of the NDC’s defeat in the 2016 election has everything to do with the weak structures behind the Presidential Candidate.
Speaking on Okay FM’s 'Ade Akye Abia' Morning Show, Yaw Boateng Gyan averred that former President Mahama needs no further introduction considering his hard work in the infrastructural development of the country, but his downfall was the structures behind him.
Explaining the structures, the former NDC National Organizer mentioned that there was a wide gap between the branch executives and the people in-charge of the 2016 campaign.
He further revealed that there was no unity between the new executives and the old executives of the NDC as the latter were sidelined during the campaign with the excuse that the new executives are in control of the affairs of the party.
“Mahama needs no further introduction but the structures behind him were weak and so if we don’t put proper measures in place to make the structures strong, if we bring John back 10 times; he will lose 10 times. We need to change the structures and stop saying we are bringing John again and also calling him incompetent; all these comments are unnecessary,” he stated.
“There was apathy in the 2016 elections if you look at the results, because the branch executives said they were sidelined during the campaign season and the old executives too were pushed aside; all these fought against us as those who felt marginalized stayed back to watch the new executives to carry on with the campaign,” he revealed.

NO MATTER WHAT, WE CAN NEVER CHANGE THE FACT THAT WE HAVE LOST, MR GYAN IS ABSOLUTELY RIGHT ON WHAT IS SAYING, HE MIGHT BE WRONG IN THE PAST BUT TO ME HE IS SAYING THE TRUTH. THE STRUCTURE OF THE PARTY FAILED RIGHT FROM DAY ONE, FROM NATIONAL THROUGH TO POLLING STATION. THE ATTITUDE OF PEOPLE SERVING INDIVIDUALS INTEREST IN THE PARTY WAS TOO MUCH. MINISTERS, MMDCE'S,AND PARTY EXECUTIVES, WHO SUPOSED TO PAY ATTENTION TO PARTY MEMBERS SITTED IDLE EXPECTING THE PRESIDENT TO ADD THAT TO HIS RESPONSIBILITIES AS THE FATHER OF THE NATION. WE LOST NOT BECAUSE MAHAMA DID NOT WORK BUT ANGER OF THE PARTY MEMBERS CAUSE OUR DEFEAT. LET PUT EVERYTHING BEHIND AND START WORKING NOW, BECAUSE MAHAMA MUST COME BACK.
IT REALLY HURT ME TO HEAR THE SAME PEOPLE WHO HAVE CAUSED THE DOWNFALL OF THE PARTY RIGHT FROM DAY 1 WITH THE ELECTIONS OF NEW EXECUTIVES FROM BRANCH TO THE NATIONAL LEVEL POINTING FINGURES AT OTHERS. ITS QUITE EASY FOR US TO SEE THE MISTAKES OF OTHERS WHEN IN TIME PAST WE HAVE ALSO BEEN INDULGED IN SUCH ACTS. MR. YAW GYAN IF YOU'VE FORGOTEN I WILL REMIND YOU VIVIDLY WELL THAT WHEN YOU WERE BUSILY GOING ROUND THE COUNTRY AND TO BE SPECIFIC IN THE BRONG-AHAFO REGION TRYING TO RUBBER STAMP REGIONAL EXECUTIVES SO THEY WILL IN TURN ENDORSE THE CANDIDATURE OF THE NATIONAL EXECUTIVES WHICH YOU WERE ONE OF THEM THAT TIME,WAS THAT FAIR?WAS THAT DEMOCRACY?PLEASE IF THERE IS ANY ADVISE WE HAVE LET US ALL ADVISE OUR OWNSELVES FIRST BEFORE ACCUSING OTHERS OF THINGS WE HAVE ALSO DONE IN THE PAST. WHAT IS NOT GOOD TODAY WAS NEVER GOOD THEN AND WILL NEVER BE GOOD. YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT OLD EXECUTIVES BEEN SIDE LINED AND I BELIEVE THAT PAINED YOU RIGHT? WHEN COMPETENT PEOPLE HAD SPENT THEIR TIME AND MONEY COMPAIGNING TO BE VOTED FOR SO THEY COULD DO AN EXCELLENT JOB, YOU WERE ONLY OUT THERE SEEKING YOUR OWN AND PERSONAL INTEREST. MAKING SURE YOUR OWN PEOPLE WHOM YOU KNEW VERY WELL COULD NOT DO THE WORK WERE APPOINTED IN THE BRONG-AHAFO AS REGIONAL EXECUTIVES. PLEASE GO BACK TO THE BRONG-AHAFO AND APOLOGISE TO ALL THOSE PEOPLE AND THE HARM YOUVE CAUSE THE REGION DUE TO THE RIPPLE EFFECTS OF YOUR BAD DECISIONS AND ACTS EARLIER.THEY ARE STILL BITTER AND THE EARLIER YOU DO THIS THE BETTER FOR YOU AND THE PARTY AT LARGE. A WORD TO A WISE............
Ernest ndc were rigging the elections by changing figures from constituencies to the national electronically. The whole system was manipulated by the ndc rigging machine which was put on course by the NPP which necessitated the manual use which every pink sheet from the constituencies had to be used to get the correct results and that's what brought ndc down fall because the true reflection of the Ghanaian voter count Resulted In What We Saw In 2016. NPP were smarter than you and they wouldn't sit down for you to cheat them everyday. Nan*ama! Everyday for thi*f man one day for master. You ste*l everything under the sun and now God has exposed you big time with this humiliation. Don't play or mock God.

It's interesting to hear them fighting themselves and an ***barred word*** individual too blaming their unprecedented embarrassing defeat on Hacking! Really? U must be hallucinating. When others were busily campaigning, the ndc were busily spreading falsehoods, propaganda and insulting just about everyone. U guys were so divided and instead of fixing your issues, u were again trying everything to discredit and punch holes in everything your opponents did or said. U were more concern about Kwabena agyapong and afoko' suspension than to worry about fixing your disunited party. Ghanaians can't be taken for granted anymore.
"NDC should see the HACKING side". Wow!!! The vote difference of over 1.5million between Mahama and Akufo Addo was due to 'HACKING'? Really?? Even in your defeat, you are conceited. HMM
NDC loosing ha everything to do with Mahama. We were fed up with his incompetence and the corruption he was supervising. Let him come again, all we know is Mahama is incompetent and corrupt.
Why is NDC complaining about campaign funds, and who chopped which money?? Why cant they realise that Ghanaians had already made up their minds long before the campaign. Who would have maintained this corrupt and arrogant gov in power?? We voted against them because they had no business continuing in power, not because they could not campaign well
Let us get serious here pls. NDC lost this election by their own doing. eg. Arrogance, Corrupt 1ooters , incompetence etc.
"you can see the NPP was not to win the 2016 elections"? how could you see that? hahahahaha if you knew who was going to win why then should we even hold elections? its very funny how you guys are still living in your own bubble. if you keep on with this attitude, 2020 will be worse. And what happened with the US elections? because trump won the electoral college and lost the popular vote? pls spare us with your ignorance if you have no clue how the US electoral system works. lol
