NPP Deputy General Secretary, Nana Obiri Boahene says it will be advisable for the ruling ‘Elephant’ fraternity to capitalize on the findings of the 13-member committee set up by the opposition NDC to review their defeat.
According to him, the NPP must work harder to find solutions to their little hitches during the 2016 campaign period - this he believes will keep them in power come 2020.
“What lessons are we learning from them [NDC]? Whatever recommendations by their committee will be beneficial to us [NPP],” he said.
The report on why the National Democratic Congress (NDC) lost the December 7, 2016 general election to then opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), has been released with startling revelations.
At the handing over of the 455-page report to the party’s leadership in Accra yesterday, the Chairman of the 13-member committee, Professor Kwesi Botchwey, said it was time for the party to find means of collating its own results from the polling stations to the top ‘independently’.
The report, titled, ‘listening to the grassroots’, said the NDC must take urgent steps to restore the integrity of the register.
According to the chairman of the committee, the mood of anger and disappointment among some party members and some leaders was understandable.
However, it was important for “elders and eminent people go round to sooth people and calm tempers to restore an environment of trust and unity in the party so as to create the foundation for the party’s restructuring.”
Speaking on NEAT FM’s morning show ‘Ghana Montie’, the deputy Chief Scribe of the ruling party noted that – “Whatever problems in the NDC, we have the same problem in the NPP so we must resolve that before 2020 elections. For me, I will urge all NPP members to take good lessons from the Kwesi Botchwey report. It will be of a benefit to us.”

Obi abodwese rehye a , na wo asa nsuo asi wode3 ho. Well said, Obiri. What happened to NDC in 2016 was like one of Azumah Nelson's fight. The NDC did not have an iota of idea of that they will lose miserably. Though 2020 is a done deal by God, we need to work extra hard to retain power during the elections. We should not forget about the foot soldiers of the party.
The first time this man had made sense. I hope Wontumi and Ken Agyepong would also learn to make sense.
election, 1, the higest corrution in th history of africa was practise during maham a time, 2, mahama was the most imcopenntent mn in ghan aleaderships, h3 he took boys frm bola and sttreet and made them ministers abi messengers to destroy the country, n,c, d cant account for $37 bilion dooalrs loans, the gyda monies, cyda manies, akwua donkoh house and car, the bus branding deal, ibrahim social security non payment, the opuni cocoa deals, the maahma house in dubia, when his villgers dont gt water to drink, the sudden n,d,c millionaire ministers like ablakkwah , haruna, idrisu, the baba jama, and the lots who never had one dolars and many more are the reason, but
Well said, but the N P P after winning the 2016 elections has already committed blunders can can cause the party in 2020,some new entrants were made regional ministers in some regions only months after claiming to have joined the N P P, i know of some one who stood on the ticket of a particular party on two occasions as a parliamentary candidate and today he is a regional minister, when more qualified people who toiled for the party day/night have been left out completely, to the extent that failed parliamentary candidates in this particular region were not even considered for D C E's except one, and even that one was miracle, may be NANA ADDO has candidates to contest the seats in this region other than the current failed candidates, the N D C lost because the party supporters kept mute and were watching from afar but at the back of their minds ,they knew they will have their say on elections day when the votes are countered, the N D C only realize they were losing after the counting of votes, most N P P supporters are quite not because they are happy but they are waiting for their day. The earlier the N P P sits up, the better if not NANA ADDO will be a one term president, if it were money the N D C would have won. Currently , the belief by some party followers is that some of the regional chairman sold the positions to people, if not how can some one who has never held a microphone for once to campaign for the N P P become a minister. Well 2020 is not that far, yooooooo
THIS MAN IS A SEASONED POLITICIAN. THE NPP SHOULD READ THE REPORT VERY CAREFULLY AND DRAW THEIR STRATEGY OF WINNING THE 2020 ELECTIONS IN LINE WITH THE REPORT. WHEN THE NDC HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO LEARN FROM THE "CHASING THE ELEPHANT INTO THE ***barred word***" THEY RATHER USED IT FOR PROPAGANDA PURPOSES. NDC WITH SPOKESPERSONS LIKE SOLOMON NKANSAH AND KWEKU BOAHEN NEED TO WORK SERIOUSLY ON PEOPLE WHO SPEAKS FOR THEM. THE DAYS OF LIES AND FABRICATIONS ARE OVER.
