The National Organiser of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Kofi Adams, says the current state of insecurity in Ghana is blamable, and squarely so, on President Akufo-Addo.
He says no other person can be blamed beyond the president, insisting that it is “because he is the appointing authority” responsible for keeping at post the Inspector General of Police (IGP) whose duty it is to oversee security within the country, he told Radio XYZ in Accra.
Over 90 robberies, a number of them fatal, have been recorded since the beginning of the year.
And according to Kofi Adams, while everyone else in the country appears worried over the deteriorating security situation, the president appears satisfied with the job of the IGP hence his continued stay in office.
Explaining why the President, and not the IGP must be held accountable for the state of affairs, Kofi Adams said there is no reason to go demanding the removal from office of the IGP when his ‘employer’ thinks he is performing.
Drawing an analogy from radio programmes, he said no one expects a radio listener to confront a radio presenter over a poor show, rather the station owners or managers are to be held accountable.
Kofi Adams said as a Ghanaian and nationalist, he wishes the country could make progress all the time and move higher and higher, however the reality is that “we take two steps forward, and take three steps back, sinking and sinking.”
He said far from being partisan, he thinks the country needs serious infrastructure development as undertaken by the Mahama administration.
But rather than focus on infrastructure development, the current administration prefers to appoint many more ministers into office when we should be reducing their numbers to reduce expenditure.
He said for Transport alone for instance, there is a Transport Minister and deputies; Aviation Minister and deputies; Railways Minister and deputies; with the cost of maintaining these political heads very high, while the local airlines are dying, nothing has been added to the aviation sector and the nation bears the unnecessary cost.

This ***barred word*** is still talking?
The Burkinabe whose imported guns which were arrested prior to the 2016 elections in Kumasi (in trucks) and a big man ordered for it to Accra...... The question is...where are the guns... I strongly believed these same guns a being used against us in the form of armed robbery.. NPP government must investigate and asked the big man who gave the orders..
whenever these cr1m1nals start to blame someone for something just know that they are behind it. Papa J said it and they try to shu>t him down using pratt. there is no doubt the insecurity in the country is politically motivated. I see the ndc as those behind more than the npp. only God can tell what they seek to gain. Investigators shd look into what Papa J said. the man is a prophet.
