Ghana’s Aviation Minister, Mr Kofi Adda, has, on behalf of the government of Ghana, signed a deal with Canadian firm De Havilland Aircraft to buy six Dash8-400 aircraft to start its national airline.
The deal was signed on Tuesday, 19 November 2019 at the on-going Dubai Air Show.
The deal is a booster to Ghana’s aviation industry as the country tries to resuscitate its national airline.
In 2004, Ghana International Airlines was established with the government owning a 70% stake while a US consortium, GIA-USA, had 30 per cent.
The deal fell through six years later resulting in the collapse of the national airliner in 2010.

Ghana is working
The 'empty head' had been able to upgrade our airport to an international standard. I believe without proper airport with modern equipments, the airplanes will be landing in your house. Reason a little before posting comments here.
Trying to establish a new national airline is actually not a bad idea. My hope is that this new airline will be better managed so it doesn't end the way its predecessors did. And the Boeing 787 planes, are they not the ones which have been grounded because of engine fault?
Such is a good news for the country. Ghana is working again. This government is clearly putting together the pieces left off by the 'empty heads'. So incompetent to run the affairs of Ghana. I wish they are even banished from parliament. how can a member of Parliament take double salary? So sad NDC doesnt have any competence to even sponsor people to Assembly elections. They are 11blog headed group of 11fakes. Just wasting our hard earned money in parliament.
Hope things will work out for us this time. Boeing has also reported on their website that Ghana has placed an order for 3 787 aircrafts
That is good news. I will finish schooling next year to be Aircraft mechanic. And I will be moving to Ghana after I finish school. I would like to know when Ghana will take delivery of the aircraft?
