The Enchi District Magistrate Court has sentenced a farm labourer, Kofi Kumbro to 12 months imprisonment with hard labour for stealing fowls.
The Court convicted him on his own plea of guilty to unlawful entry and stealing.
Giving the facts of the case, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Ebenezer Anim Ofori, told the Court presided over by Mr Joseph Mensah that the complainant, Solomon Appiah, was a farmer and a resident of New Denkyira, a suburb of Enchi, while the convict lived at Techiman near Enchi.
He said on August 8, 2018, at about 12:25 am, the complainant noticed that his fowls were making some unusual noise.
ASP Anim Ofori said, when the complainant woke up, he realized that Kumbro had sneaked into his compound and was attempting to steal some of his fowls which were roosting on his unfenced porch.
The prosecution said the complainant shouted at the convict and intentionally threatened to shoot him if he tried to escape.
ASP Anim Ofori told the Court that this scared Kumbro and the complainant managed to arrest and sent him to the Enchi Police Station for investigation.

some ple have succeeded in creating hell for us on this earth while they are living very comfortably. pastors are also taking advantage of the fear of hell to dube us in churches. still fowl and go to jail, but use pen and paper to steal the nations resources for urself and family and walk free. the thunder that will strike our leaders is on its way. i see a time coming when all these n0ns3nss3 will stop.
I feel sad when I hear some of this judgement from our courts. This is a poor man who you can see that he is hungry and need something for food. Just give him some warning or lineage punishment. We have people who have stolen Millions of Ghana Cedis of the tax payer and they are walking about freely in town. This is not fair at all. God have mercy on us....
