Managing Editor of the Insight newspaper, Kwesi Pratt Jnr. says President Nana Akufo-Addo's list of Ministers is as a result of enormous pressure mounted on him by his party members.
According to him, the President has been pressured to appoint 110 Ministers in order to apparently appease people.
To Kwesi Pratt, the people circling around the President are not telling him the truth and if they don't stop singing his praises; he will not be any different from other Presidents.
He advised government officials to stop being sycophantic and hypocritical and help President Akufo-Addo to make right decisions.
“Help him and tell him the truth because if you don’t tell him the truth, he will not become different from any other President . . . So, we should stop the praise-singing and hypocrisy. The President, himself, has told us that he knows that coming into government, he will be criticized and there’s an opportunity for that. The President, himself, has come out to say this; still praise-singing, sycophancy. Why?”
Analyzing the President's logic, Mr. Pratt alluded to the erstwhile Nkrumah regime disclosing that in the entire 9-year rule by Ghana’s first President, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah; he never had a list of Ministers as Nana Addo's government.
Yet, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah was able to deliver and undertake several significant developmental projects just with a smaller fraction of Ministers; he added.
To him, the President's justification for appointing 110 Ministers together with their deputies is unfounded.
“If we need lots of Ministers to undertake developmental projects, then Kwame Nkrumah would have got about 6000 Ministers. If we need numerous Ministers to work for progress, Kwame Nkrumah would have taken 6000 Ministers. Because there’s no doubt that when it comes to development, 9 years that he became President; the number of developmental projects he did, 9 years and no one has come close. But he had the lowest number of Ministers – 44,” he said.

China , indeed, wouldn't have qualified to get any developmental or economic Support if it had been strictly going by her human rights records according to the so called westen values.China as we all know is still not democratic but she has been able to grow her economy enomously over the last 30 years. China today is a economic power. Furthermore,Chna had depolmatically never used her vito powers against USA in United Nation. And if you asked me today, given the global Economic order,I would say, Economic Diplomacy is equally very important.Kwesi Pratt's scope of today's world politics rest and based on Populist, glorifying the old good days of Nkrumahism. Only a ***barred word*** shall not Change, if you consider the Dynamics of today world politics.Sofar our President has been very brilliant and he would definately make his mark and no amount of pull him down will succeed to derail him from his course.
If I my asked this oppounitist Kwasi Pratt. How much Debt did the British gov't left for the Nkrumah Cpp gov't ??
please what was the population during the nkrumah's regime compare to the current and strike the percentage with the ministers thereof and you will see the intellectual dishonest people in our times
KWASI PEATT, LET ME TELL YOU THAT NKRUMAH WAS NOT GOD. DID NKRUMAH TOOK GHANA IN HEAVEN IN HIS RULING DAYS? I DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHY YOU ALWAYS DISTURBING OUR EARS WITH NKRUMAH'S REGIME. IF NKRUMAH BEING BUILT HEAVEN IN GHANA, WE WOULD HAVE MET IT. YOU ALWAYS OPENING YOUR BIG TEETH AND MAKING UNNECESSARY AGITATIONS. SHOW ME PARTICULAR PARTY YOU BELONGS? WHAT HAS AKUFFO ADDO DONE WRONG BY APPOINTING 110 MINISTERIAL POSITIONS? YOU ALWAYS TALK LIKE YOU ARE THE ONLY MOST SENSIBLE PERSON IN THIS COUNTRY. IF NKRUMAH WAS A GOOD PRESIDENT FOR YOU, WHY DID YOU WENT FAR AS LIBYA TO GADDAFI FOR CORRUPT MONEY.SHAME ON YOU.I DON NOT EVEN WANT TO HEAR YOU ON RADIO OR ON TV.CORRUPT MAN KINDLY GIVE US A BRAKE.
Massa, why did you never criticise the Mahama govt ? But now you feel the need to advice Nana's govt If you indeed have any sense to share? Make we mind our own business ooh.
See his teeth. Evi.ll man. Nation wrecker. You and your children have had your share of Jon mahama, give the rest of use a break okay.
Kwesi Pratt is overly becoming nuisance in the light of how he handles issues. The logic and the reasoning which underpin his Claims beat the mind of any sane honest intellectual.Indeed, Dr Kawme Nkrumah was a brilliant politician of his time , he used fitting and strong rehtoric with respect to the political circumstance of the time to push his political agenda. And indeed, nobody is underrating his successes, efforts and his dynamic leadrship. It was really a high time Kwesi Pratt of all his own ardent Nkrumahist right, realized that the dynamics and contents of world politics had complexly changed. And if Kwesi were, only, a little intellectually honest to exhibit informed constuctive contribution to relevant issues of the day, he would have realized and appreciated that new era non-colonial per se, though, its afftermath related new Leadership, policies and diplomacy are indispensible.People argue that we have all the requisite institutions aside new ones created by previous Administrations in place to help the President archieve his Goals. But that notwithstanding, the results of the the past Administrations have been abysmal with the exception of Kufour-Administration which made some meaningful mark, with relatively more number of Ministers than others. I think the President(Nana)has consistently said and believe , we cannot Keep on doing the samething all the time and expect different results.Nkrumah as visionally as he was would have definately changed his card of Leadership, if he were to live the present political space with its' numerous global Dynamics. Changing the Status quo, the Gugisberg type of economy to industrial and productive one would have been the key.We all know he made an attempt in that direction in his time for a population of 6M. Today the Situation is more complex.
Are we saying that the number of ministers should be proportional to the population? Kwesi is just being a citizen and not a spectator. Nana will appreciate what Kwesi is saying. Ghanaian's lets grow up and cut off politics in every honest and expression of views. Grow Ghanaians grow!
Kwesi God have seen what you are doing behind close doors and you are scare of your own shadow.
Uncle Kwesi this ***barred word*** comparison,Nkrumah's era the population of Ghana was just 4 to 4.8 million people. The presence of companies like UAC,CFAO,SCOA,Briscoe,Kingsway stores etc handles most the things like employment which this day every government is struggling with, things have changed considerably .NDC did not appoint many ministers like this govt. but the number of presidential staffers were many so lets see if NPP will also appoint many staffers at the presidency.
