The Managing Editor of the Insight newspaper, Kwesi Pratt Jnr, says the state of Ghana’s economy over the past two years is nothing to write home about.
According to the seasoned Journalist, the prices of foodstuffs and other commodities have increased by 150 percent likewise the price of petrol and the like.
Kwesi Pratt Jnr made the comments in an interview on Atinka AM Drive Monday.
He tasked the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to be wary and desist from making vague promises like the current administration did which has affected the economy.
Commenting on Nana Addo’s visit to China and numerous MoU’s signed between Ghana and the Chinese government, Kwesi Pratt Jnr mentioned that China is the only country in the world which can give a developing country 5 billion without political conditions attached.
“China is actually the major source of funding in the world today. He stated that unlike the Chinese government, the IMF and World bank will attach a whole lot of conditions to loans which cannot even feed half of the people in the country,” he added.
Sinotruk International, China’s first heavy-duty truck manufacturer, has signed an agreement with the Government of Ghana to establish an assembly plant in Ghana, to serve both Ghanaian and West African markets.
Global automobile manufacturing giant Volkswagen also announced plans to set up an automotive assembly plant in Ghana.

NDC is a bullying and cheating Party just like its founder. Credit should be given to the strong Civil societies springing up in Ghana today to check the politicians. Indeed, the Government should see it as imperative to digitalize the Economy and hence make it possible to capture and register true Ghanaian electorates and thus dismantling the corrupt and incredible practices of the EC. The corrupt EC-Establishment date back from the Administration of Rawlings, set to rig elections. So the NDC had never relied on an electoral campaign based on the political message, policy lines, and issues to win political power except on propaganda and habitual lies to pave the way for the rigging which the EC is set to complement. They front dishonest journalist like Kwesi Pratt to misinform the electorates. The tool Kwesi Pratt uses is populism and socialist polemics under the guise of Nkrumahism, but his real motive is always to charge the public with lies and baseless argumentation, clearly depicting his longstanding antipathies towards the NPP tradition. Regardless, their performance in terms of the prevailing welfare and faring of the Ghanaians in the NPP Administration as against that of the NDC. Unlike Kweku Baako, though also Nkrumahist and journalist, yet very objective, credible and very constructive in his analysis. I think Kwesi Pratt must stand out against this type of cheap and propaganda-sake politicking symptomatic of diabolic NDC-Politics. It's encouraging to note that, Ghanaians have grown out of cheap, decisive only for vote politics. Having changed Governments, and therefore are able to compare how they fare well in their living when there is changed in Governments.
Empty promises cause of hardship...really? How about propaganda for kickbacks? Wicked lies for the tax payers sweat. Dishonesty personified!!! Its a shame when people like this man Pratt talks like this.
