Managing Editor of the Insight newspaper, Kwesi Pratt Jnr has sided with economist Andrews Kwame Pianim in his assertion that it is meaningless to just bandy about economic figures if it does not translate into something tangible for Ghanaians.
The celebrated Ghanaian business economist and investment consultant courted controversy this week when he was reported to have said that fixing the challenges of the local currency, the cedi; needs more action than mere words.
To him, addressing the fundamentals of the economy is what should grab the attention of all.
"All that I am saying is that people don't eat words. They see the exchange rate reflect in their cost of living because prices will go up. Let's stop talking and focus on addressing the fundamentals....It doesn't matter which party is in power; we should stop political point scoring," he stated.
This follows a town hall meeting on Wednesday, that was led by the Economic Management team of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), chaired by Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
Dr. Bawumia speaking at the meeting stated how the ruling government has been able to put the economy back on track after the NDC left it in tatters. Click to read the full speech
The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), countered a day later, with the party's flagbearer, John Mahama pontificating that government "can do all the lies and propaganda with the economy you like, the reality of people's life will eventually expose them (Akufo-Addo administration)."
Adding his voice to this on Peace FM's morning show ‘Kokrokoo’, Kwesi Pratt said the figures churned out by the government will not be meaningful if it has no effect on people’s livelihood.

My problem is not with figures but reality. At High rate prices were moderate but at lower rate prices are High. I used to buy Tiger head battery 1.00 GH cedis for pair now in some places is 2.50 and other places 3.00. What I don't understand is this so called figures. NPP should do something about prices and stop praising themselves of some stuppppppppid fundamentals.
When Pratt was feeding fat in the Mahama era, he forgot that we don't eat words. A CPP man who represents NDC at Metro TV, as a communication team member should be watched carefully. Whenever you hear him travel outside Ghana, he goes to Cuba, Afghanistan, Kazakstan, etc. Pratt is a paid agent and a traitor spying for external forces.
Kwesi Prat Tweaaaakai. A reflection onincompetent ndc
The NPP kept shouting about planting for food and jobs, but we still import tomato from Burkina Faso. Onion from Niger, Plantain from Cote D'i voire. Let's keep playing the ostrich.
Those who do not know Kwesi Pratt will take him serious. I hope a little more political history of him will get the facts right. During the 1981 so-called Revolution that ushered in PNDC, Kwesi Pratt claimed he was jailed fourteen (14) times but the moment PNDC was transformed into political party (NDC) the same victim of PNDC atrocities, Mr Kwesi Pratt joined NDC, his reason was that NDC was SOCIAL DEMOCRATIC party. Meanwhile Kwesi Pratt has been a founding member of CPP. It could be recalled that Kwesi Pratt was SPECIAL ASSISTANT to former President MAHAMA. So one would ask, what does Kwesi Pratt stand for in Ghana politics. The NDC under Mahama has been described by JJ Rawling, NDC founder as THE MOST CORRUPT regime that has ever visited Ghana. So you see all that Kwesi Pratt is saying is because he is not enjoying the BUTTY he was getting under the corrupt regime of John Mahama. I am sure Mr Pratt is aware that NDC took Ghana to the IMF for POLICY CREDIBILITY. Mr KWESI PRATT PLEASE SHUT-UP for DR BAWUMIA to addressed the mess you guys created.
Let the good economic indicators translate into super number of employment, food on table, improve condition of life.we do not eat figures
This Kwasi Pratt thinks about his stomach only. We were importing Yam, plantain etc under Mahama. Thanks to Nana Addo, food is in abundance but do Pratt want government to buy them for everybody? What sort of socialist is this? Thank God, we have fertile land and some people have chosen to sell dog chain in the streets and you want Nana Addo to bring other jobs? Come to Italy and Ghanaians travel to become farm labourers and many have lands in Ghana and they refuse to farm and complain about jobs. How can this be?
Aw kwesi pratty . When the macro fundamental are good it will not just reflect in your life. You have to take advantage of it.
No wonder it is rumoured that he soiled himself in the Studio.
