Managing Editor of the Insight newspaper, Kwesi Pratt Jnr has sided with economist Andrews Kwame Pianim in his assertion that it is meaningless to just bandy about economic figures if it does not translate into something tangible for Ghanaians.
The celebrated Ghanaian business economist and investment consultant courted controversy this week when he was reported to have said that fixing the challenges of the local currency, the cedi; needs more action than mere words.
To him, addressing the fundamentals of the economy is what should grab the attention of all.
"All that I am saying is that people don't eat words. They see the exchange rate reflect in their cost of living because prices will go up. Let's stop talking and focus on addressing the fundamentals....It doesn't matter which party is in power; we should stop political point scoring," he stated.
This follows a town hall meeting on Wednesday, that was led by the Economic Management team of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), chaired by Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
Dr. Bawumia speaking at the meeting stated how the ruling government has been able to put the economy back on track after the NDC left it in tatters. Click to read the full speech
The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), countered a day later, with the party's flagbearer, John Mahama pontificating that government "can do all the lies and propaganda with the economy you like, the reality of people's life will eventually expose them (Akufo-Addo administration)."
Adding his voice to this on Peace FM's morning show ‘Kokrokoo’, Kwesi Pratt said the figures churned out by the government will not be meaningful if it has no effect on people’s livelihood.

Oh, Kwasi na anka me respect wo kakra oo. Call Ghanafoo in Canada and ask them the exchange rate of Canadian dollar to American? It's going down every single day even a country like Canada as one the G7 nation. All what we are saying is that they are (you know) better than them. Please be honest!!!!!!. It's not the best BUT much better than Mahama. Kwasi think of "SHS", my kids goes to school free in Canada and am so proud for the poor families in Ghana. Ask Castro (Cuba) how to build a nation? Answer is spend more on education etc.

Pratt has been the most ***barred word*** critic of Bawumia. He scandalize him at the least opportunity at radio gold. It make me feels the Vice President is special that why Prat hates him so much.
Kwasi do you realise you are gradually losing your relevance in Ghana cuz you are not truthful. At first people were willing to listen to you whenever you speak on any issues but unfortunately lately your tummy has taken over your conscience. Change else you’ll soon became an endangered specie. A word to the wise .........
Mr Pratt talk about something else, because honestly FOOD is in abundance in Ghana , no matter how hard you try to do politics with food, the markets will expose you
SOMETIMES WHEN KWESI PRATT TALKS I WONDER WHERE LIVES IN GHANA. GHANA SINCE NANA ADDO HAS SEEN FOOD STUFF PRISES RELATIVELY LOW AND FOOD IN ABUNDANCE...NO SCARCITY THAT NOMALLY FORCES PRISES UP. TODAY YOU DON'T WALK TOO LONG A DISTANCE TO BUY ANY STAPPLE FOOD. SO WHAT AGAIN DO KWESI EXPECT FROM THIS GOV'T? ***barred word*** IDIOTIC SOCIALIST.
