NPP Member of Parliament for Bantama constituency in the Ashanti region, Daniel Okyem Aboagye, said he has pleaded severally with the Deputy Chief of Staff, Francis Asenso-Boakye to rescind his decision to contest him in the upcoming parliamentary primaries.
“I have begged him three [3] times not to contest me but he has refused,” he said.
The incumbent MP who is unsure of his position ahead of the party's primaries told the media that all efforts to let Mr Asenso-Boakye overturn his decision has hit the rock despite his hard work in the constituency.
“I begged him through the Chief of Staff and the Bantamahene but he has picked and filed his forms already,” the worried MP told the media when he filed his nomination at the constituency office on Friday, 14th February 2020.
According to him, Mr Asenso-Boakye should rather concentrate on his current position as Deputy Chief of Staff to help the party win the December 7 polls.
He called on delegates to reject Mr. Asenso-Boakye and vote massively for him to continue the developmental work he has started.

Hahahaha next time.
I pray the Asenso loose. Asenso is very rude. Bantama delegate do not make mistake and vote for Asenso he is very rude and do not care for the constituency but what he will get.

I pray this MP looses the primaries. it will teach how to respect people. He sits on TV and insults President Mahama. When have you ever heard asenso insult any body.? He lied against Kokofu and won the seat. He should loose and become an ordinary person and meet the anger of the people and maybe he will be humble. i
If not for greediness, why on earth a deputy chief of staff would want to go contest for a seat in a parliament? On the other hand, why should someone be afraid to be contested for his or her seat? May the deputy chief of stats wants to safe guard himself for free flow of the people’s money in case NPP loses. Bottom line, greediness!
I AM INDIGENE OF BANTAMA, PRECISELY FROM BOHYEN. I THINK MR. OKYEM ABOAGYE IS DOING VERY WELL IN THE PARLIAMENT. HE HAS BEEN OUTSPOKEN ON ECONOMIC AND FINANCIAL ISSUES FOR NPP GOVERNMENT. HE DESERVES TO BE RETAINED AND HELP THE PARTY IN PARLIAMENT. I AM NOT SURE WHETHER ASENSO IS CAPABLE ENOUGH IN THAT AREA TO MEET THAT CHALLENGE WHICH IS VERY CRUCIAL. HE SHOULD CONCENTRATE AND CONTINUE TO HELP AT THE PRESIDENCY. HE NEEDS TO OUTSHINE AT THE PRESIDENCY IF HE CANNOT THEN HE HAS NO BUSINESS IN PARLIAMENT.
Someone should tell me what at all is in this parliament that incumbent parliamentarians are begging to go unopposed? This is because they claim to have their own jobs, abd that they are self made people and they are self sufficient enough and that they do not need to be in parliament. Thet however move anything to go back to this unforgiveable place. Someone should enlighten me on why they beg to go there.
But you contested Kokofu who was the incumbent MP to unseat him? Why are you afraid of a contest? Share the money you have accumulated to the delegates. I usua;;y like primaries because the politicians will share their ill-gotten and filthy monies they looted from the state coffers to party delegates. Massa, go and contest and stop this noise
