Seasoned journalist, Kweku Baako jnr. has empathized with the former President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) Kwesi Nyantakyi after being banned for life from all football-related activities both national and international.
Commenting on the issue on Peace FM’s 'Kokrokoo' programme Wednesday morning, Kweku Baako stated that “nobody should rejoice or celebrate the predicament of another human being especially if their your friend.”
According to him, the decision by FIFA is "too harsh", claiming the international football governing body went too far to sanction Mr. Kwesi Nyantakyi.
" . . That appears to me to be a bit too harsh," he stated.
FIFA’s ban comes as a result of undercover investigations into the rot at the Ghana Football Association which caught Kwesi Nyantakyi in the web of corruption and total disregard for the rules of the football community.
Though he has resigned as President of the Association, he was later suspended by FIFA before this decision to ban him for life.
To him, Kwesi Nyantakyi shouldn’t pay the imposed fine by FIFA saying they cannot ban him for life and still expect him to pay such a huge amount.
"You've banned him for life then after you ask him to pay 500,000 Swiss Francs, if I were him I wouldn't pay. . . If you had banned me for 10 years and in default banning for life then it makes sense," he said seeking to know more about the sanctions of FIFA in such related matters.
FIFA, on Tuesday, October 31, 2018, issued a statement banning the former GFA President for life with immediate effect and also fined 500,000 Swiss Francs which amounts to about 2.4 million Ghana cedis.

Uncle Kweku,if u push an old woman fall, where she will should not be of a concern to you. Frankly speaking,I have a problem with we Africans, the whites have cheated us since immemorial and Kwesi have succeeded in defrauding them small we are here crucifying him instead of praising him. The sad aspect is that the money he is to pay is going to a foreign country and our leaders will later go and borrow them.ahhhh mother Africa.
Baako is too hypocrite, does he know how much FIFA pay as a salary for Nyantekyi a month, FIFA knew that he can pay such amount, so Mr hypocrite Baako know it all should ***barred word***.
Kweku Ananse the hypocrite. what were u and ur coffee shop mafia team thinking if not to destroy him totally. u have succeeded so what is the pretense for?
THIS GHANA FOOTBALL DRAMA. IT IS PART OF GHNAIANS TO ENTERTAIN OURSELVES. PLEASE, FIFA DON'T TAKE IT SERIOUS. BY WHAT COMPETENT ADJUDICATION HAS WAS NYANTAKYI TRIED. WHO TESTIFY AGAINST HIM OF CORRUPTION. THE ACCUSER DOES NOT INTENT TO GO TO ANY COURT TO MAKE A CASE AGAINST NYATAKYI. HE ONLY WANT TO EXPOSE THE MONEY MINDEDNESS IN GFA. MAY BE FIFA REACTION IS PART OF THE DRAMA TO RETRIEVE WHATERVER NYANTAKYI COLLECTED AS BRIBE FOR DOING NO WORK.
the most annoying aspect of it all is Anas tried to collect $150,000 from nyantakyi to drop the video. All those behind this damage caused to nyantakyi should be without sin. if they have ever collected bribe before then they ll suffer more than this. it ll follow their children to their family lines. Jesus Christ said anyone without a sin should first cast the stone. it means we need men of integrity to expose wrong doing. how ll it be fair for people who dance in the pool of corruption in real case situations, simulate and video someone and say he fell for the bait so he is corrupt? this is an invitation of great curse upon the lives of those people.
Hahaha, Kweku Baako. Stop it. This is a totally different forum. In Ghana, you guys manipulate the system so much that your kinpin status is firmly established. You say he shouldn't pay? Joker. They know his business links. They know his travelling schedules. He will be arrested if he steps into Europe just watck it. It clearly show you do not know the principle of fighting corruption in these countries. They don't care how long it takes, they will hunt him down. By now they have accessed information on his account details where he has stashed all his ill gotten money. You remember those times Ghana Airways owed a lot of money in Europe, the thought they will fly to the US without detection. They were taken to court in the US and laid in wait. That is how Ghana Airways stopped flying. Kweku if you have not lived in these systems before and do not know how their system work, please don't advance such ideas.
Stop, you are hypocrite and you will pay for all you've done, Kweku Baako
is Akufo Addo learning how to fight corruption? it is still not late. that is why i voted for you to fight corruption. i am still watching but no action yet.
Mr. Baako this all the work of your darling boy Anas who never does any wrong. Its interesting how we human beings can destroy someones life with all sorts. If God is revealing the wrong we all do in secret who will pass the righteousness test. Please Kewku Baako keep you sympathy in your pocket. You didn't know the repercussions of what will follow before you were hailing your darling Anas. If your boy is that clean then God should bless him but if he is not , then the God who sees beyond humans should reward him accordingly.
FIFA's action is the way to fight corruption. to make that negative activity bitter if one is caught. Nyantakye was corrupt and that was why he took the bait so easily. we do not need such people. the NDC were so corrupt and yet they feel so comfortable because this is Ghana and Africa, where corruption is hailed even by members and institutions with 'integrity'. Name the police, judges and politicians. that is the more reason why Ghana without aid would be difficult to achieve.
